Architectural Design 7 and Graduation Project Theme: “After the Quarry”
The aim of the projects to be developed is to reintegrate active or abandoned quarries in Istanbul and its surroundings into ecological and social life through architectural interventions. The project investigates the adaptive reuse and sustainable transformation of quarries within the urban context.
As part of the semester studies, students will analyze the operational principles, environmental impacts, and post-use transformation processes of quarries. Based on contextual and environmental data of selected quarries, different programmatic needs will be determined. Students will develop designs with a closed area of 10,000–15,000 m².
Pınar Bayraktar, founding partner of Habitus Architecture, will participate as a guest lecturer and jury member during the jury evaluations.
